reflectionTechnology is everywhere, and children are growing up in a world where technology rules. Children need guidelines for properly interacting with this new environment. In the past, adults have had great control over protecting their children from danger, as well as teaching them right from wrong in numerous scenarios. The internet has made this duty a complex task.
Educators must also take on this difficult, yet necessary task to keep their students safe. Privacy steps, proper communication skills, and ethical practices must be embedded into curriculum for safe and effective use of technology. Many courses in the IT program focus on the importance of these various issues. While many artifacts that meet these standards include research and essays, collaborative platforms will be showcased in this portfolio. In order to effectively integrate the artifacts showcased, students must be digital citizens. Giving the students a safe environment to collaborate, explore, and learn is imperative. |
artifactsThe artifacts below showcase safe environments for students to explore instructional standards through collaborative platforms, structured materials, and inquiry measures.
The below artifact was created to gather information about each student's technology needs and access.
The Padlet below places numerous resources in one safe environment. Students can freely access assignments, without complex and possibly unsafe measures.

Future Learning GoalsCreating collaborative, safe atmospheres will require educating students on the use of the internet, personal information, and digital citizenship. I plan to make this a priority moving forward, placing an emphasis on these critical areas. Teaching high school students these skills was extremely relevant, as technology is "life" for this age group. As I currently teach 6th graders, I need to remember that although this age group is drenched in technology, they are fairly new to the freedom of exploring the world wide web. This makes this standard a main priority to incorporate into curriculum, so students can evolve into productive digital citizens. I will continue learning best methods of incorporating this standard.
