The LeaderEducators seek out opportunities for leadership to support student empowerment and success and to improve teaching and learning.

reflectionEducation needs leaders, as leaders guide and encourage other educators to discover new methods of instruction. With the influx of technology integration, teachers must become learners once again. Leaders must be the driving force behind this transformation.
The Instructional Technology (IT) program at the University of Southern Mississippi incorporates this theory into its courses. Many courses focused on creating tutorials and websites designed to encourage leadership possibilities. Professors inspired collaboration through creative methods, in which colleagues held leadership roles to teach classmates IT curriculum. The Leadership in Instructional Technology course requires students to fully develop a technology plan for a school. This eye-opening experience showcases the various responsibilities of a technology director. This learning opportunity fully encompasses the critical thinking of leaders of technology. |

The tutorial links below provide instruction for using the innovative Flipgrid application. The tutorials were created to encourage use of the application by giving step-by-step guidance for incorporating Flipgrid in the classroom.
The website below showcases my beliefs, expectations, and aspirations as a leader of technology.
The video below was created to motivate my students through creating a reading competition. Although, it served as an instructional tool for my students, I was also able to share this with colleagues. This encouraged them to use the Buncee tool for instructional purposes.

Future Learning GoalsNext year, I plan to implement a professional development plan that integrates the numerous ideas outlined in my technology plan. These ideas include creating a website, just for our school's staff, which encourages teachers to learn from eachother through teacher-made videos, blogs, discussion threads, and so much more. My role will be to design the website and encourage teacher participation.
For motivational features, I plan to integrate staff shout-outs which will draw teachers to the site. I will also devise easy troubleshooting tutorials for common technology problems with hardware, software, and various applications. This may put teachers at ease, who may otherwise be reluctant to incorporate innovative technology. This will be a learning curve for me, as this will be my first opportunity to conduct needs assessments, plan for the needs, and coach teachers along the way. |
